#120 Staryu

#120 STARYU

Staryu was not on my “to do it” list, but my wife was a picture of him and wanted me to try to make one.  Here is my attempt at making Staryu.

Staryu is worked in rounds under specified.  You start making Staryu by making two stars that are sewn together and stuffed. Once you have the star made, then make the accents.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn:  Gold, Yellow, and Red
Crochet Hook F
Fiberfil
Yarn Needle

BODY:
With Gold yarn:
Rd 1:   10 sc in magic ring (10)
Rd 2:   2 sc in each sc around (20)
Rd 3:   sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (25)
Rd 4:   sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (30)
Rd 5:   sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (35)
Rd 6:   sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (40)
Rd 7:   sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (45)
Rd 8:   sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (50)

No longer work in the round

Row 1:            10 sc, ch 1, turn (10)
Row 2:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (10)
Row 3:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, dec in last 2 sc, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 4:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 5:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc, dec in last 2 sc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 6:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 7:            dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, dec in last 2 sc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 8:            sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 9:            dec in next 2 sc across, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 10:    dec in next 2 sc (1)
Row 11:    sl st down the side

Repeat rows 1-11, 4 more times F/O

When star is complete make another one and whip stitch the two pieces together.  Stop when you have a hole that is a couple inches.  Stuff and then sew up the hole.

With Black, backstitch from each point to center of star on front side of Staryu.

JEWELED ACCENT:
Starting with red:
Rd 1:   10 sc in magic ring (10)
