M&M BLUE


This pattern continues the set of M&M characters.  This is the pattern for M&M Blue.  Blue to the Peanut Butter M&M.  This series started with making M&M Red for a co-worker.  Of course, when my daughter, Amy, saw the M&M Red I was making for him, I had no choice but make the rest of the six characters.  Those patterns are coming soon.

As far as the instructions for the backstitching of the face, I can only tell you to use the picture above as a reference.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  Blue, red, white, and black
G crochet hooks
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

BODY FRONT:
Rw 1: With blue, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (7)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (9)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (11)
Rw 4: Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (13)
Rws 5-7: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (13)
Rw 8: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, change to red, sc in next 2 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, change to blue, sc in next 5 sc.  (13)
Rws 9-10: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (13)
Rw 11: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, change to white, sc in next sc, change to blue, sc in next 3 sc, change to white, sc in next sc, change to blue, sc in next 4 sc.  (13)
Rw 12: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, change to white, sc in next 2 sc, change to black, sc in next sc, change to blue, sc in next sc, change to black, sc in next sc, change to white, sc in next 2 sc, change to blue, sc in next 3 sc.  (13)
Rw 13: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (13)
Rw 14: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog.  (11)
Rw 15: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog.  (9)
Rw 16: Ch 1, turn; sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog.  (7)
NOW WORKING IN CONTINUOUS ROUNDS AROUND OUTER EDGE OF BODY FRONT
Rd 17: Ch 1, sc 45 times around outer edge of BODY FRONT.  (45)
Rds 18-20: sc in each sc around.  (45)
Rd 21: (sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog) around.  (40)
Rd 22: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 12 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 12 sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (32)
Rd 23: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 8 sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (24)
Rd 24: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 4 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 4 sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (16)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff firmly but make sure that front and back of M&M BLUE stays flat.  Match 8 sc on each side and whipstitch closed.  Weave in ends.

ARMS (MAKE 2):
STUFF FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG
Rd 1: With white, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rds 2-3: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Rd 4: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (8)
Rd 5: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 6: sc2tog around.  (4)
Rd 7: sc in each sc around.  (4)  Change to buff.
Rds 8-12: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew ARMS to BODY.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
STUFF FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG
Rd 1: With white, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 4: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sc.  (8)
Rd 5: sc2tog around.  (4)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around.  (4)  Change to buff.
Rds 7-11: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Sew LEGS to BODY.
