LITTLE FOOTBALL PLAYER

This is a football player made using my Little doll.  This pictured doll is in the colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers because that is the what the person requesting him wanted.  This doll can be adapted to look like any football player.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn:  White, yellow, black, and café latte.
B and D crochet hook
Red, yellow, blue, and black embroidery floss
Polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

DOLL:
ARMS (MAKE 2):
STUFF ARMS AS YOU GO.
Rd 1: With white, 5 sc in magic ring.  (5)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (5)  Change to café latte.
Rds 3-9: sc in each sc around.  (5)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, 9 sc in magic ring.  (9)
Rd 2: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.  (9)
Rd 3: sc in next 2 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 3 sc.  (7)
Rd 4: sc in next sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 2 sc.  (5)  Change to black.
BEGIN STUFFING LEGS FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING LEGS FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 5: 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (6)
Rds 6-8: sc in each sc around.  (6)  Change to yellow after Rd 8.
Rds 9-13: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off with first LEG.  DO NOT FINISH OFF WITH SECOND LEG.  Weave in ends.

BODY:
Rd 1: slip st in next 2 sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as last slip st, sc in next 5 sc on SECOND LEG, sc in next 6 sc on FIRST LEG.  (12)
Rds 2-3: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 4: slip st in next sc changing to café latte, ch 1, sc in same sc as slip st, sc in next 11 sc.  (12)
Rd 5: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 6: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 2 sc.  (17)
Rd 7: sc in next 4 sc, holding next sc on BODY and first sc on ARM together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 8 sc on BODY, holding next sc on BOOY and first sc on ARM together and working through both thicknesses, sc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc on BODY.
Rd 8: sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog on ARM, sc next sc together with next sc on BODY, (sc2tog) 3 times, sc next sc on BODY together with next sc on ARM, sc2tog, sc in next sc on BODY.  (12)
Rd 9: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (8)
Rds 10-11: sc in each sc around.  (8)
Rd 12: 2 sc in next 7 sc, sc in next sc.  (15)
Rds 13-17: sc in each sc around.  (15)
Rd 18: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 19: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (9)
Rd 20: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next sc, (sc2tog) twice.  (5)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 20, pull tightly and secure.  Weave in ends.

JERSEY:
Rw 1: With black, ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (16)
Rws 2-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (16)
Rw 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc.  (12, 2 ch-3 spaces)
Rw 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 3 ch, sc in next 6 sc, sc in next 3 ch, sc in next 3 sc.  (18)
Finish leaving a long tail.  Embroider number on JERSEY.

JERSEY SLEEVES:
Rw 1: Working first skipped sc of Rw 5, attach lavender with sc, sc in side of Rw 6, sc in each free of ch-3 space, sc in side of Rw 6: sc in second skipped sc of Rd 5.  (7)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (7)  Change to yellow.
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (7)
Finish off leaving a long tail to sew seam closed.  Repeat in second armhole.  Place JERSEY on LITTLE FOOTBALL PLAYER doll.  Sew SLEEVE seams closed.  Embroider name on back of JERSEY.

EARS:
Rw 1: Attach white, o side of head of BODY even with ARMS, ch 1, sc over next 2 rounds, slip st in same sc as second sc.  (2)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Repeat on other side of head.

EYES, NOSE, AND MOUTH:
Use embroidery floss to embroider eyes, nose, and mouth on doll.

HELMEY SIDES (MAKE 2):
Rw 1: With black, 8 sc in magic ring, slip st in first sc.  (8)
Rw 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc, slip st in first sc.  (16)
Rw 3: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, slip st in first sc.  (24)
Rw 4: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 5 times.  (20)
Finish off leaving a long tail.

HELMET TOP:
Rw 1: With black, ch 21, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.  (20)
Rws 2-4: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (20)
Finish off.  Sew HELMET TOP to HELMET SIDES.

FACE MASK:
Using black chenille stem, form FACE MASK.  Sew FACE MASK to HELMET.
